About Golden Retrievers
The Golden retriever is called a sporting dog or a Group 1 dog according to the CKC or AKC. They are a super breed that is very versatile and active. They love their people and especially love children. Goldens excel in any type of therapy or service work. They do not do well staying in the backyard with a toy all by themselves. The golden retriever is a very social breed.
They are not meant to be couch potatoes and need lots of exercises. They were originally bred to retrieve water foul and upland foul so they love the field and usually excel at bird retrieval. They are generally easy to train and do not tire when asked to do the same task over and over. They are very easy to please and they want to please their human all the time.
Many people think that when you get a golden retriever you really don’t have to do much training with it. This is not true. Even though they are a relatively “easy” breed, they still need to be taught what is right and what is wrong. Don’t expect to buy a golden and leave them to their own devices. This could turn disastrous.
Why a Purebred?
To be considered purebred, both parents of the puppy must be registered with either the Canadian Kennel Club or the American Kennel Club. The dam (mother) must be registered with either Club in the name of the person signing the application for registration as owner or lessee at the time of the birth of the litter. Only the recorded owner or lessee of the dam at the time of birth of the litter may apply for registration of the litter and only the recorded owner or lessee of the dam at the time of birth will be considered the recorded owner at the birth of the litter.
It is Candian Law as stated in the Animal Pedigree act that no dog may be sold in Canada as purebred without the animal being registered with the Canadian Kennel Club (C.K.C.)
Canadian Kennel Club registration papers are your certification that your new puppy is a recognized Purebred Dog.
The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in a joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together
